Prakasho Tomar accompanied her grand-daughter to the local shooting club, and her skill when she tried out a couple of shots impressed coach Farooq Pathan so much that he encouraged her to carry on. Today, Prakasho and her sister-in-law Chandro are dead-on sharpshooters, having won competitions throughout India. They began their shooting careers as 60- and 65-year-old grandmothers, but had to fight for acceptance. Prakasho recalls hiding behind walls and cars in the village to practice so she would not be seen and ridiculed. Today, Chandro says, “I’ve shown everyone there’s no disadvantages to my age. If you’re focused you can do anything.”
